Posted on Jun 19 2016 - 10:43pm by The StatMan

In a new feature on StatManSportsOnline.com, we are going to use Out of the Park Baseball 17 to “predict” the next week in Major League Baseball.  We use our Daily MLB simulation rosters and pitching rotations, which are updated on a daily basis and are current after Friday night’s games.

Highlights on our predictions for next week:

Red Sox:

  • The Sox will sweep a 4-game series against the White Sox and go 6-1 on the week.
  • SS Xander Bogaerts had 2 HR, 7 RBI, and 5 doubles in the sim, going 8-for-30 (.267).
  • SP David Price threw a three-hit shutout on Sunday, striking out six Mariners in a 4-0 win

Mets:

  • The Mets went 4-0 against Atlanta during the upcoming week, closing out the series at Citi Field with two wins and starting next weekend’s series in Atlanta with two victories.
  • However, the Mets dropped both games to the Royals in the middle of the week.
  • In the first game of the Mets-Royals series, Noah Syndergaard was roughed up, lasting 3-1/3 innings and allowing four runs and eight hits in a 5-3 loss.  The Mets had three solo homers (Cespedes, Walker, Cabrera).

Yankees:

  • The Yankees only went 3-2 against some easy competition, going 2-1 against Minnesota and splitting a two-game series at the Stadium against Colorado.
  • DH Alex Rodriguez put on a power display during the sim, going 7-for-20 (.350) with 4 HR and 6 RBI
  • SP Masahiro Tanaka (8 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 8 K) and SP Nate Eovaldi (7 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 8 K) pitched well in separate wins over Minnesota.

Phillies:

  • The Phillies won their only game against the toughest team they faced this week, beating the Giants, 7-3, on Friday night, but lost two of three against Arizona and won two of three against Minnesota.
  • It was a tale of two starts for Zach Eflin.  He lost to Arizona, allowing four runs and five hits in two innings before being pulled, but rebounded in San Francisco with seven solid innings of three-run ball.
  • RP Jeanmar Gomez saved three of the four Phillies wins this week, allowing a home run to Yasmany Tomas, but nothing else in three appearances.
